It was an honor to be asked by EVE Studios, a Professional Networking Business in Concord North Carolina, to teach a photography workshop for their associates. Adding a fun twist, they requested we theme our workshop using storybook characters from our childhood. Reminiscing on our favorite stories, we decided to focus on Esmeralda of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ariel of The Little Mermaid, Snow White of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Alice of Alice in Wonderland.
We began by choosing our favorite part of each story, for which we would create a small piece of the story world. Envisioning the sets we would build, exploring how we would construct an atmosphere well-suited to each story and character, designing wardrobe and styling each character was a thrilling experience. Getting on our hands and knees and adding a different element to our usual elbow grease was quite enjoyable. We carefully sought elements to bring each set into context and the perfects model who not only resembled our chosen characters but could step into the story and embody each character.
After one month of scheming, building, sewing and seeking we were excited to open the doors for our workshop.
Meet Snow White.
Nikki Cee was wonderful as our Snow White. She was as graceful, sweet and elegant as you would have envisioned Snow White to be and, the best part, is that's who Nikki is in and out of character. In fact, I'm pretty certain Snow and Nikki are the same person! Not to mention that Nikki is a full-time Princess with Queen City Princess Parties. (You can also find them on Facebook at Queen City Princess Parties)
Emily Rinaudo, a model based out of Atlanta, Georgia, played Esmeralda for our workshop and was the epitome of a mysterious, compassionate, wild-at-heart gypsy. With dancing, intriguing eyes and beckoning each participant to have their fortune read, Emily fully fulfilled her character and was a joy to have with us!
Having an Ariel such as Shannon Rauch was a treat. Shannon not only shares Ariel's interest in trinkets and thingamabobs but is also a Real Life Mermaid! Shannon has been a featured mermaid at the Denver Aquarium in Denver, Colorado, taken her fins to several resorts in the Bahamas for guest entertainment and will soon be embarking on a deep sea adventure to swim with Whale Sharks. Shannon also shares a passion for teaching children how to swim at local pools and bringing dreams to life swimming for children's birthday parties.

Krista Portas, a Charlotte North Carolina based model, portrayed our fashion-influenced version Alice of Alice in Wonderland. Her shared attributes with Alice helped embody her character but, Kristas mannerisms and focus on immersing herself in the story were truly realized the world we created for the workshop participants.
Our styling team was key in refining each look. Thank you, Bianca Mebane for a fantastic job with Hair and thank you, Kristin Shadrick for a great job with the Makeup.
It was a pleasure working with EVE Studios on this event and we look forward to including opportunities like this in our future.
